Terms of Service

Effective: April 24, 2026Last updated: June 29, 2026
⚠ Important — Estimates, not tax advice

LQID's calculations are estimates for planning only — always verify with a qualified accountant before filing any tax return or making financial decisions based on LQID data.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of LQID, operated by LQID Inc. ("LQID," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using LQID, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use LQID.

1. What LQID Is

LQID is software that helps Canadian solopreneurs and small businesses track revenue, expenses, and tax obligations in real time. It calculates estimates for HST/GST, income tax, CPP, and related amounts based on data you provide.

LQID is not a tax advisor, accountant, or law firm. We provide software tools to help you understand your tax position. We don't replace professional accounting, legal, or tax advice.

2. Estimates & Service Availability

LQID's calculations are estimates, and the service continues to evolve. This means:
  • Calculations are estimates based on public information about Canadian tax law, and are not a guarantee of your actual tax liability.
  • You should verify all calculations with a qualified accountant before filing any tax return or making financial decisions.
  • We may add, change, or discontinue features, with reasonable notice for material changes affecting paid plans.
By using LQID, you agree not to rely on it as your sole source of tax information.

3. Eligibility

To use LQID, you must:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a Canadian resident or operate a business in Canada
  • Provide accurate, current information when creating your account
LQID is intended for solo business owners, freelancers, and small businesses in Canada. It is not designed for personal (non-business) tax tracking or for businesses outside of Canada.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your password secure, all activity on your account, and providing accurate information about your business and tax situation.

If you believe your account has been compromised, email us at support@lqid.ca immediately. You may not share your account with others. Each user needs their own account.

5. Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you enter into LQID (deposits, expenses, invoices, etc.).

By using LQID, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the service to you. We will not sell your data to third parties. We will not use your financial data to train AI models.

You can export your data or delete your account by contacting support@lqid.ca. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:
  • Use LQID for illegal purposes
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or copy our software
  • Interfere with other users or the service itself
  • Enter data that belongs to someone else without their permission
  • Use LQID to violate Canadian tax law or defraud the Canada Revenue Agency
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7. Pricing & Billing

LQID starts with a 30-day free trial — no card required. After the trial, continued use requires a paid subscription (LQID Solo or LQID Team), billed monthly or yearly in Canadian dollars. Applicable sales tax (GST/HST) is added at checkout, and our GST/HST registration number appears on your invoice. Current prices are shown on the Pricing page.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time from your billing settings; access continues to the end of the period you've paid for. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.

Early access: the first 250 LQID Solo subscribers who apply code 2026TAXSAFE at checkout lock in $9.99/month for life. This commitment will be honored for those who qualify.

8. Intellectual Property

LQID — including all software, design, tax engine logic, and brand assets — is owned by LQID Inc. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use LQID while your account is active.

Our tax calculation method is patent-protected in Canada (CIPO filed). You may not reverse engineer, replicate, or commercialize our calculation methods.

9. Third-Party Services

LQID uses trusted third-party services to deliver our product:
  • Supabase — database and authentication (your primary data storage)
  • Vercel — website and application hosting
  • Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing
  • Anthropic — AI tax assistant (only messages you send to the bot are processed; your transaction data is not sent to Anthropic)
  • Resend — email delivery
  • Plausible — privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics
  • Sentry — error monitoring
See our Privacy Policy for details on how these services handle your data.

10. Disclaimers

LQID is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
  • Calculations will match CRA's final determination
  • The service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • The service will meet your specific needs or legal requirements
Tax laws change. Your specific situation may involve exceptions LQID doesn't account for. Always consult a qualified accountant before filing.

Tax rates, brackets, thresholds, credits, and rules change — sometimes mid-year — and LQID may not reflect the most current law at any given moment. You and your accountant are responsible for confirming the rules that currently apply to you before filing. A qualified accountant's professional judgment is the final authority on all your tax matters; where LQID's output and a qualified professional's advice differ, follow the professional. LQID Inc. is not liable for calculations based on rates or rules that have since changed.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, LQID Inc. is not liable for:
  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Lost profits, lost data, or business interruption
  • Tax penalties, interest, or reassessments resulting from reliance on LQID calculations
  • Any amount exceeding what you've paid LQID in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $100 CAD if no payments were made)

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LQID Inc., its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or costs arising from your use of LQID, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.

13. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting support@lqid.ca.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we decide to discontinue the service. Upon termination, your access ends but you may still request a data export for up to 30 days after.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you via email or a prominent notice in the app at least 7 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of LQID after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
